NOTE: The information below is relevant to customers of Revue Publisher, a version of Revue for large creators and publications.

Want to make it easy for your readers to sign up to another newsletter you send from Revue? As an Admin, you can do that by creating a one-click sign-up link and placing it in the newsletter they’re already subscribed to. It will look something like this (but you define the text, of course!):

To build your own, just follow the steps below. It’s important to note that these links can only be used in newsletters or welcome emails sent by your organization within Revue — and not on social media or elsewhere.

Step 1: Create a code snippet for your newsletter promo

You can use the snippet below as a template. Just copy/paste it to somewhere you can edit it, then change the fonts/colors if you wish. If you need help with this, drop us an email.

Code snippet:

<!--[if mso | IE]><table role="presentation" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="600" align="center" style="width:600px;"> <tr> <td style="line-height:0px;font-size:0px;mso-line-height-rule:exactly;"><![endif]--><div style="margin:0px auto;max-width:600px;"><table role="presentation" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" style="font-size:0px;width:100%;" align="center" border="0"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align:center;vertical-align:top;direction:ltr;font-size:0px;padding:30px;border: 1px solid #C4C4C4;" class="indented"><!--[if mso | IE]><table role="presentation" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td style="vertical-align:top;width:600px;"><![endif]--><div aria-labelledby="mj-column-per-100" class="mj-column-per-100 outlook-group-fix" style="vertical-align:top;display:inline-block;direction:ltr;font-size:13px;text-align:left;width:100%;"><table role="presentation" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="100%" border="0"><tbody><tr><td style="word-break:break-word;font-size:0px;padding:0px;padding-bottom:8px;" align="left"><div style="cursor:auto;font-family:'FreightTextPro',Times,Georgia,'Times New Roman',serif;color:#000000;font-size:20px;line-height:24px;font-weight:bold;text-align:left;">HEADING_TEXT</div></td></tr><tr><td style="word-break:break-word;font-size:0px;padding:0px;" align="left"><div style="cursor:auto;font-family: 'FreightTextPro', Times, Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif; color: #000000; font-size: 17px; line-height: 24px; text-align:left;padding-bottom: 8px;" class="link-description">BODY_TEXT</div></td></tr><tr><td style="word-break:break-word;font-size:0px;padding:0px;padding-top: 4px;" align="left"><div><!--[if mso]> <v:roundrect xmlns:v="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:vml" xmlns:w="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:word" href="#" style="height:42px;v-text-anchor:middle;width:200px;" arcsize="139%" stroke="f" fillcolor="#00ADEF"> <w:anchorlock/> <center><![endif]--> <a href="BUTTON_URL" style="background-color:#00ADEF;color:#ffffff;display:inline-block;font-family:'FreightTextPro',Times,Georgia,'Times New Roman',serif;font-size:14px;font-weight:bold;line-height:42px;text-align:center;text-decoration:none;padding-left:20px;padding-right: 20px;-webkit-text-size-adjust:none;" class="rnd-button" target="_blank">BUTTON_LABEL</a><!--[if mso]> </center> </v:roundrect><![endif]--></div></td></tr></tbody></table></div><!--[if mso | IE]></td></tr></table><![endif]--></td></tr></tbody></table></div><!--[if mso | IE]></td></tr></table><![endif]-->

Step 2: Input the correct values by replacing these tags in the code snippet

HEADING_TEXT Replace with the text you’d like to see for the promo’s heading

BODY_TEXT Replace with the main body text of the promo

BUTTON_LABEL Replace with the text you’d like to see on the sign-up button

BUTTON_URL Replace with a link that will subscribe the reader who clicks it to the relevant newsletter (see Step 3 below)

Here’s what the button will look like with the first three fields filled in:

HEADING_TEXT This is the heading for my newsletter promo

BODY_TEXT Here’s where I explain what my newsletter is about, and why my readers may like to subscribe

BUTTON_LABEL Click here to sign up

To create the BUTTON_URL used for the newsletter promo sign-up link, you need to find the correct list number (ie. the string of numbers that specifies the newsletter you’d like readers who click on this link to sign up to).

Here’s how to find it:

  1. From your Admin login, open the newsletter you’d like to create the promo for
  2. Go to ‘Subscribers’ in the top navigation
  3. Click on the email address of any subscriber
  4. Copy the string of numbers after where it says ‘/lists/’ in the URL bar. That’s the list number for this newsletter — you’ll need it in Step 4.

Step 4: Complete the Button URL

Use the following construction (removing the square brackets) to build your BUTTON_URL:

https://www.getrevue.co/subscribers/-token-/lists/[list number]/subscribe

Example: https://www.getrevue.co/subscribers/-token-/lists/12345/subscribe

Now, copy/paste it where it says BUTTON_URL in your code snippet. Remember, this link can only be used in emails send through Revue, and will not work on social, in other emails, or in web versions.

All that’s left now is to head over to this help page to learn how to place the cross-promotion button you’ve just made in one of your newsletters (scroll to the section ‘How to create a sponsorship, display ad or promo’).
