You may sometimes want to offer a reader a discount or to share a coupon that gives readers a certain number of issues for free. This can be a great way to get people into your newsletter when you’re starting out with paid membership.

All payments on Revue are handled via Stripe, a separate company that we’ve integrated with to manage the money side of things. If you’ve already set up your paid newsletter, you’ll have a Stripe account. Head over there to create your coupons.

NB. If you have any trouble with this process, we recommend contacting Stripe’s excellent customer support for help.

You can set coupons up in your Stripe account really easily by heading to the Products section in the left-hand menu, then selecting ‘Coupons’.

Click ‘+ New’ at the top, and you’ll see this form:

From there, you can give your coupon a name and define the parameters surrounding it — including the amount and the duration.

Tip: If you’d like to create a coupon that’s only redeemable a certain number of times (eg. if you want the first 15 people who sign up as members to get a discount), check the box next to ‘Limit the total number of times this coupon can be redeemed’.

Click ‘Create coupon’, then head to the ‘Members’ tab of your Account Settings, refresh the page, and it should appear in the ‘Coupons’ section.

The final step is: share it to your heart’s content!
